Get to know Mike Ryan, Director of Strategic Accounts at Rockfarm St. Louis, as he shares his professional journey in the logistics industry.
Mike grew up in a quiet little town in Upstate New York where it snows a lot. Right out of high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After serving his time in the Marine Corps, he decided to pursue opportunities in the trucking business. He spent a number of years driving trucks, including running turnpike doubles from Rochester and Buffalo to New York City and New Jersey. On a particularly snowy day, he made the decision to relocate to South Georgia/North Florida.
As trial and error led him through several different truck driving jobs there, he managed to land a job in Jacksonville driving for Biagi Warehousing Florida. After a year and a half of driving there, he was brought inside to be the “trucking guy”. This evolved into being their Transportation Manager for twelve and a half years. In 2012, he was promoted to the Operations Manager position at Biagi Warehousing Florida, being responsible for four warehouses, a 24/7 trucking operation and 30 employees.
In 2020, he made a decision to relocate to the St. Louis area for family and personal reasons. He has landed at Rockfarm St Louis where he is currently learning the methods for moving freight, and he hopes that his years of experience in trucking and warehousing will help contribute to their growth. He has a brother and two sisters in Ohio, and his son currently resides in the St. Louis area as well.
