This is a free event to attend.

Fun—This is an unbelievably funny event if you have not been to one. You can never predict what the mice will do. The naming of the mice normally will be filled with crazy ones that make no sense most of the time.  I was hoping Brad Reinhardt would be the MC again, but not happening, at least this time. He adds a interesting flavor to it.

More info next month

This Month’s Sermon is about something that happened to me a couple of weeks ago. The likelihood of it happening had to be 1,000-1 against it but felt like destiny, or even heavenly driven.

The story begins with Brad and I changing companies abruptly (to put it mildly) 9 years ago on Oct. 18, 2012.  Brad and I had been working together for 3-4 years when the change happened. We had been running an office for this company (I am not going to dignify them by mentioning their name) when suddenly we got a call from HQ to let two people go. Our office was very profitable at the time for them, but they were losing money every quarter. Just to be on the safe side, luckily, Brad and I had been looking around in case we needed to leave them. Anyway, 2 weeks before the ultimate split, we let go 2 loyal employees because we were told to do so. One man was a close friend of mine for 10 years or longer before this. Then, as fate would have it, they did the same with us, closing our office, but we were ready and started a new company the next day on October 19th. We joined Giltner (great company and owner) and had a good run with them for 7 years plus. One of the guys we had let go weeks before came back with us within a few months, but the guy I will call G, my close friend did not. I had always regretted how it all went down and felt he was mad at me (and Brad), didn’t know they did the same thing to us, or at least he was disappointed in us.

Nine years later I was playing golf in Carlyle at “Gov Run” with my wife, and my cousin Opp.  Behind us was a man and I thought was probably his son.  We tried to keep moving (not slowing them down) when after 3 ½ hours the younger player hit a long shot close to our group. They pulled up close, and to me and my wife’s surprise it was my dear long-lost friend G and his son. Hugs were made quickly, and I asked them to play the last hole with us. My old friend G said, “he had not played there for 10 years, and it had been with me back then.” After we got done playing our rounds, we hung out in the parking lot for an hour talking when I finally told him “I don’t think you know this, but they did the same thing to Brad and I, 2-3 weeks later after you left.” Amazingly it was 9 years to the day. My statement surprised him a little. For me, It had always been some unfinished business and good to add some clarity to what happened back then. Brad and I had always liked G and it bothered us.  I had lost a golf buddy, friend, and past customer because of that day.

As it turned out G started a new business 9 years ago, and has done very well, way better than if he would have kept working with us. Ultimately for Brad and me it turned out awesome too!

So, in honoring Thanksgiving coming up, I am grateful and give thanks for so many things, God, my business partner, our business, customers, employees, my wife and family, my cat Simbee, reuniting hopefully with my old friend, and all my friends.

Have a great month, AL
